My New Job

I have been so busy lately. My crazy little world has just gotten even crazier. As if I didn’t have enough on my plate I have been inspired by a group of God fearing women (whom I’ve met on the web) to add on the title of chief Money Saver.
Some of you might not know this about me, but I am a very frugal person. I hate to pay full price for almost anything. I don’t enjoy shopping and I really do not like to spend money on something I could do myself for free.
For a while now I’ve been praying for the Lord to show me a way that I can help out our family’s finance. Our family, obviously, is a 1 income household (since I stay home and care for the home and kids). I consider what I do to be my “job” and I think that I’m pretty good at doing my “job”.
Like most hard working people I am constantly striving to be better if not the best at what ever it is that I do. I’ve always said that when it comes to our money my job is not to bring home the bacon but instead to make what my husband bring home work for us.
The Lord has really been showing me some new things lately. It’s almost as if I’m being beaten over the head with information. This year alone I have met so many new women. Some who like me homeschool and others who don’t, but, all of them love the Lord and have a desire to be good stewards of what He has gifted to them. Through this group of women I am learning to shop wisely, plan appropriately and trust the Lord even more.
I am so grateful for all that I have learned. My husband is so proud of me. I am now starting to enjoy shopping a little bit more. I’ve learned how to plan a menu (and I’m now able to plan our menu a whole month in advance). I’ve learned to clip coupons, watch for sales and buy things when they are on sale and not when I need them (because everyone knows, nothing is ever on sale when you need it).

I am so excited about saving money. Later this month I will post about some of my shopping deals and by doing so maybe I can inspire some of my readers to take the plunge and become a fellow Money Saver.

I'm with you on being a money saver. I consider that part of my job as well. I've been a bit off track lately, but I'm back on my menu planning and money saving plans again.

Okay so I have been thinking about this kind of thing a lot lately. I checked out some of the links on your blog. I have been clipping coupons for a long time but this inspired me to think that I can save a lot more. I would like to talk to you more about it sometime soon.

Reba I am really glad that you visited those sites. This past weekend alone I went to walgreens and purchased $39.75 worth of things and only paid $11.25. I'm pretty new at this so I'm sure someone with more experience could have saved even more money.

You will continue to love the savings you accumulate too! It's a blessing to be able to stay home and I'm like you - I need to be a good steward with what the Lord has given me! Good luck (and have fun, like that's not possible..hehe)!

I need to get better at menu planning though so now you've just given me a boost of inspiration! There's a great blog on that too if you're interested: http://www.carriescooking.com/.
