Summer Is Here

I have a love/hate relationship with the Summer. I absolutely abhor the heat and sticky humidity that is "Florida". I do not like watching my electricity and water bills climb higher and higher. I do not like waking up to the temperature of 85 degrees. I don't like getting into the car and it being so hot that I have to immediately turn on the A.C. and wait 5 minutes before it gets comfortable enough to load the kids in. I do not like being bitten by horsefly size mosquitoes. Most of all I do not like hearing that the day's temperatures will be something like highs of 99 degrees with lows of 85 degrees and a stickiness scale of 9.
However, Summers around here are not all bad, for example, I love summer foods. There are very few things that can bring a smile to my face faster than the sound of watermelons being cut. Oh man, and don't get me started about those mangoes. Around here we can live off watermelons, strawberries, blueberries, and mangoes. But, it's not all about the food with me. I love doing summer activities. I like swimming in the pool and evenings at the beach. I like going kite flying and just being lazy and spending the day laying under the tree in our back yard while the kids play on the swing set. I love being able to take the kids outside at 6 o'clock in the evening and and staying out until the sun goes down (which around here is about 8:00 pm. I love the relaxed, laid back tone in our home. We all just seem to move slower when it's hot.
How about you, what's your favorite or least favorite things about the Summer?

My dear you hit the nail on the head! Everything you said is what I would have said. I DO NOT like the heat or electric/water bill that comes with it. However I LOVE MANGOES, watermelons, pineapple, and just about any summer fruit. Yummo!

Evenings at the beach, summer fruit and just being lazy in the backyard with the kids sound GREAT to me, Mama! Moving slower is never a bad thing. It truly helps to bring one back to the important things in life.

Thanks so much for participating in Flaunt It Friday!

Happy Weekend!

For me, I would have to say that I love the lack of routine during the summer...being able to just do whatever, whenever. AND, I hate the lack of routine in the summer...because sometimes I think we just really need a routine. How's that for an answer!? :)
